The desktop PC becomes outdated!
The identity of a modern office is the PC that stands proudly and prominently on the desks of almost every member of the staff. The office networks of businesses still rely on the desktop computer. The question whether the PC is out dated gets a firm no as an answer. There is no sign in the horizon of anything to replace this wonderful piece of furniture. The end of the desktop era will come when some great genius will invent a more powerful and more reliable device to take over.

Technology has come a long way since the early version of desktop computers first appeared on our office desks. Laptops or notebooks are now status symbols of modern executives. These portable devices are now indispensible companions. And the new generation smart phones do everything a computer does. Good reason for some techies to believe that the desktop is on the verge of extinction. Remember the Atari and the cassette tape. A few years back one could not imagine life without these. Now they are dumped away in the backyards of our memory. The desktop computers destiny may not be different. But that day is definitely not anywhere near.
Individuals of course have already embraced the convenience of the handy, powerful and stylish genre of modern computers. Smart phone of today can perform the most of the functions till today done by Desktop computers only. This allows people to execute their duties from anywhere any time. The portable device in your pocket acts as a virtual desktop. Most phones also allow you to create documents and upload them to emails right on your phone. The user can read and send e-mail, download attachments, browse the web or visit social networks all from the little device in his or her pocket or hand bag.

Mobile phones are more than just a device for communication now. They do everything a computer do and more. Internet, e-mail and social network are features found even in the basic low priced models. Banking, shopping and even business meetings are done through cell phones these days.
A new breed called the smart phones invaded our lives and today they have evolved into Personal digital assistants PDA. Electronic books and handheld pads, like the iPad, are slowly pushing the traditional desktop in obscurity. Devices like e-book readers no bigger than the size of a magazine have the capacity to store hundreds of books or thousands of documents. These fast evolving devices are eliminating not just the good old desktops but the fancy lap tops do not seem to have any longevity.
But in spite of all this developments, people are reluctant to throw away the beloved desktop PC which evokes some nostalgic memories.
